By volunteering with us you’ll get to meet like-minded people, learn new skills and make a difference. Our work ultimately benefits women and their families in Timor-Leste, whether through selling handcrafts, raising awareness of issues in Timor-Leste, fundraising, organising our Melbourne operations or supporting our partner groups here and in Timor-Leste.

Being a Volunteer means

Working alongside committee members, other volunteers and sometimes independently. The ETWA office is located at the Augustine Centre, Hawthorn, where a number of other community based organisations operate. ETWA works collaboratively with these groups in a supportive environment so that ETWA volunteers benefit from these partnerships and vice versa.

How to become a Volunteer

  • Take a look around our website. By reading about the organisation you will gain a deeper perspective of how you could or would like to contribute to ETWA activities and projects.
  • Download this Volunteer Application Form. To enter your details you can, open the PDF file in Microsoft Word and enter signature digitally, optionally if you prefer, print this PDF file, hand write your details, and either post to our mailing address, or hand deliver to the committee member you are liaising with. Make sure you enter the position you are interested in from the Available Postions list below. If you have a general interest, no problem, just leave that space blank.
  • New volunteers will first meet with a current committee member. They will help you identify where you can be of assistance and guide you through some initial information about the organisation and projects.
  • For Volunteers engaging in specific project positions, with a specific aim, will receive a Position Agreement Contract. This will outline all aspects relevant to the positions parameters and responsibilities both from the organisation and the volunteer.
  • When your contribution is clear and your ready to begin volunteering. The appropriate committee member or existing volunteer will guide you through an initial briefing to get you on your way, along with providing further support as required.
